In the film, the lead characters have just exited the palace. After significant mayhem, they found a wooden plank kept in a secret compartment inside the Resolute desk. All that remains is to decode the message, find out where *that* leads, and then locate Cibola (a lost city of gold). Simple stuff for a treasure hunter. ;-)

The gate at Buckingham Palace is easily recognizable, thanks to an ornate design and a distinctive black-and-gold color scheme. The "Changing of the Guard" takes place nearby.
