Blountville was a favorite overnight stop along the Great Stage Road. Coming from Abingdon, VA, horses were changed at King's Meadows (now known as Bristol), then the coach would overnight in Blountville. Presidents Andrew Jackson, Andrew Johnson and James K. Polk stayed in the local Deery Inn (Waymark WM5Q9A).
