This place is the COOLEST place on earth... and it is literally called "City Museum". If you plan on going to see the St. Louis Arch, go to the museum first!!! You will have so much more fun here, than standing in line to ride some cramped little box to the top and then down again, to watch a movie (don't me wrong, great to do once and if you have two days-a day for each depending on how busy the arch is).You are not going to want to leave this place!

Not sure why we went to this place, it didn't seem to be that big a deal, nothing extraordinary. Until we got there and I practically forced my cousin (also in her 30's) to go inside. This museum is supposed to be for kids, but kids at heart seemed to enjoy it (we did). Everything in the museum was saved from another location before it was demolished or "modernized" and turned into something useful. Like the oyster shells utilized as mosiac pieces on a column? They represent one night's consumption of oysters at the Broadway Oyster Bar". And, I highly recommend finding where inside there is a museum of mirth, mystery and mayhem is. For you beer drinkers and smokers? A GREAT place for a break! You can even drop the kids off next door in the art room while you relax! This place is now a MUST see every time we are in St. Louis! What is in the collection: EVERYTHING FUN!!! Find the "Puking Pig", the tunnel system (yes, the hole that is the whales butt is even a tunnel) on the first floor!!! The second floor? More tunnels! Third floor, when I was there a display of surgical items welded and shaped into different sculptures, mirth, mystery and mayhem, a real train that runs, the art room. And don't forget to leave time for the outside area!! We didn't get to, but the largest most original tunnel system I have ever seen!!!
