La sierra de la Mujer Muerta recibe este nombre por recordar su perfil al de una figura tumbada, sobre todo si se mira desde el norte. La línea de cumbres que forma la silueta comienza en la Pinareja, continúa en la Peña del Oso, pico de Pasapán y termina en el puerto de Pasapán.
