Grave site of Capt. Joseph Erwin, Lavinia T. Erwin and Eliza E. Wilson. Three buried at intersection of Hwy. 1 and St. Louis Rd., just south of Plaquemine, LA. Site is across from the EJ Gay Middle School.

Research turned up some interesting information. Captain Joseph Erwin originally from Tennessee. Erwin's company was in the Battle of Long Island on August 27, 1776. (http://mimpickles.com/lindsey/william_of_fort_pitt/1776/william_died_1776.html)
He moved to Louisiana in 1807. He established the Home Plantation on which the current St. Louis Plantation now stands. The Home plantation was lost to the Mississippi River in the 1850's. < Ref.-
"Louisiana - A Guide to the State (1971 Edition)". Federal Writers Program. Tour 11, Page 536 (ISBN# : 8038-4272-4)> I also found data stating that Capt. Erwin and Mr. Gay did a lot of business dealings in Davidson County, TN.
