The foundation stone of this church was laid by the most Rev Dr. Fallon Lord Bishop of this diocese Assisted by the very Rev P.J. Ryder PP A.D. 1858
Being twice thrown down by storms in the years 1862 and 1863 it was rebuilt and completed by the Ref F. Forde who in his zeal for the glory of God collected amongst the faithfull both at home and in Australia over 2000 pounds which sum was placed in the hands of the committee, A.D. 1866.
