The most interesting thing to us about Kris & Kates other than it being my family's favorite local ice cream shop is that it is actually a giant ice cream cone! (see note below*)

Kris & Kates is reminisent of the drive-ins famous in the 1950's and definately has that flavor (pardon the pun). Do-wop and old time Rock & Roll are played through their outdoor sound system while Belt Hiway cruisers gather to socialize and enjoy refreshments. Soft serve is their specialty and the only type sold. Besides various ice cream treats including our favorite the Turtle Sundae, they also serve a hot dog called a "Harley Dog" which is available as a "full dresser". Of course malts and shakes are also available.
There is an on-site volley-ball net and picnic tables including a "Harley Only" parking area. No indoor seating is available however.
Kris & Kate's Ice Cream Treats also features car shows and live entertainment regularly.
The business is only open during the summer months.
*Note on the building itself: Twistee Treat buildings are 28' tall and 20' wide fiberglass ice cream cones topped with cherries. The design was created by Robert G. Skiller who opened 23 units around Florida, starting with one in North Fort Myers in 1983. The company filed for bankruptcy in early 1990 and a new company was formed in 1996.
