This is the anchor hospital of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services. There are 300 beds in this hospital that includes cancer care, cardiac care, emergency trauma care and rehabilitation. Established in 1890 as the Glockner Tuberculosis Sanatorium for the new tourist city, as people came from the east coast for the clean air and dry climate. It was selected to be in U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Hospital’s” list in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
