On 21st April 1972, a time capsule was placed at the Cairns War Memorial.
It was placed to commemorate the relocation of the memorial from the intersection of Abbott and Shield Streets to the Cairns Esplanade.
The capsule contains Cairns City Council and R.S.L (Returned Services League) records.
There is no fixed date for the capsules opening.
