Sitting adjacent to the Nature Center and the beginning of the Redwood Grove Nature Trail, this giant Redwood segment, somewhat ironically, did not even come from the nearby forest.

This giant Redwood segment was taken from a Redwood Tree (Sequoia sempervirens)from Humboldt County where some of the tallest Redwoods in the world grow (and coincidentally, the tallest tree in the world).
This specimen has small bronze plaques attached to signify the various significant dates in history, spanning over 1,000 years. Near the center of the tree is "The Birth of Jesus", until the trees natural demise in 1934.
