St Constantine & Aegideus church was originally looked after by monks from Tavistock Abbey in 12th century. This led, in 1155, to the creation of the first pastoral vicar of England. The church as it stands today is 15th century and there are traces of 14th Century work in the tower and at the front door. The church is built of Hurdwick stone from a local quarry. Over the years much of the building has been restored. The Western gallery and the screen have disappeared although the stairs still remain. In 2003 repairs were carried out to the 15th century ceiling. The tower houses a peel of six bells.
