The area was rebuilt in 1873-74 with the surrounding wall but the plaque and arch left in place. The hospital now belongs to the Parson Lathams Charity providing housing. The original hospital was completed in 1603 built for the provision of "twelve poor, lame or impotent people, which shall be of itself a body Corporate and Politic, and shall consist of a Warden and eleven other poor people".

There are many good words on the plaque as follows:

'NICHOLAS LATHAM Born in Brigstock Great Park the Son of JOHN LATHAM Gent. Keeper of the said Park. Built this Hospital for 14 Poor People and another in Oundle for 18 Poor Widows. He also Founded 5 Free schools for Young Children one in this Parish the other 4 in the Respective Parishes of Oundle, Hemington, Weekley and Brigstock. He also Bequeathed many other Charitable Gifts as Exhibitions to Two Scholars in Cambridge, several sums of Money for the Repairs of Bridges and Highways and for Relief of such as have had Losses.

And Yearly Clothing for 45 Poor Children, all which do Amount to the Value of 300 Pounds by the Year for ever. Which said NICHOLAS LATHAM, was for the space of 51 Years the Worthy Pastor of this Parish only, having no other Dignity or Preferment, or Lands left him by his Ancestors. During which time He diligently fed his Flock both with Spiritual and Bodily Food.

He departed this Life August the 4th, In the 72nd Year of his Age. Anno Domini 1620. Vade Tu Viator et Imitare. Go and do thou Likewise. 1864.'
