Unionville Old Church - Unionville, Ontario, Canada - Unique Steeples on Waymarking.com

This church was built as a Congregational Church in 1879, at what is now 150 Main Street but was sold to the Presbyterian Church in 1894. They continued to use it until 1925, when they joined the Methodists to form the United Church, and moved down the street. In later years it became the local Veterans’ Hall. Its steeple is engraved with the names of the local veterans of World War Two. The church, which was built in the aptly named Picturesque style, is believed to have been designed by a young (24 year old) Edward James Lennox, who later became one of Toronto’s best known architects. His works included old City Hall, the King Edward Hotel, and Casa Loma.
