The German Coast is located in eastern St. Charles parish in the Destrahan, LA area. The "Second" German Coast is located across the Mississippi River, in western St. John the Baptist Parish, in the Edgard, LA area.

Being in a mainly French dominated area, and being of Germanic heritage, I was astonished to find this area in south Louisiana. The plaque is located in the Ormond Plantation parking area. Also held here every Saturday AM, is the German Coast Farmers Market Farmers Market.

Also this site.

There is also a good website located here.
After reading sign and information on internet, plenty of German names and some are German which have been combined with a touch of French.
