1931 Ford "Woody"
In 1931, Ford introduced a new Wood-bodied Model A to their lineup with panels made of maple, birch and ash. Ford called this new vehicle their Natural Wood Special Delivery Model A and priced it at $600.00.
Ford had a 4 year sales run and sold just over 11,300 Station wagons. They were all beautiful cars and they have been popular since the day the were introduced. In the 1950's collectors began restoring them and in the 1960's they became popular with surfers. The wagons were cheap, large eough to carry a good number of people, surfboards and equipment and could be fixed up with woodworking skills. Thus, the "Woody" became the classic vehicle of the surfer!
