From a news website:
At noon, Arizona time, George W.P. Hunt was sworn in as the first governor of the new State of Arizona. In Prescott, residents celebrated with "literary exercises", the Courthouse bell was rung 48 times (for the 48th state) and all of the shop and railroad whistles were blown. Ten anvils set up on the Plaza were rung. The Prescott Band played "patriotic airs" and school children sang. The Statehood tree was planted by the Masonic Lodge.
