In the first half of the 20th century, Gennep was an active railway town.
In memory of the railway people, this locomotive was put on display.
It is of the "Prussian type" and was built in 1923 by Louis Schwarzkopf in Berlin.
It was operated by the Noord-Brabantsch-Duitsche Spoorweg Maatschappij (NBDSM), Gennep being the headquarters of this railway company.
