The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia is located on Hollis Street in downtown Halifax. Since 1988, it has been located in the historical Dominion Building, built in 1865. The AGNS also has gallery space in the neighboring Provincial Building.

The gallery specializes in Atlantic Canadian art, with the historic rural artist Maud Lewis as a featured attraction.
