Blue plaque on North Lodge in Upper Maze Hill in St. Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex where the writer Sir Henry Rider Haggard KBE stayed from 1918 to 1923.
Rider Haggard was a "prolific writer of adventure novels set in exotic locations". One of his most well known is probably 'King Soloman's Mines'.
He was also involved in agricultural reform.
He was made a Knight Bachelor in 1912 and a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1919.
He was born in Bradenham in Norfolk on 22 June 1856 and died, aged 68, on 14 May 1925 in London.
