There is a car parking area, cafe and toilets here where you can begin your walk. The total walk covers a distance of 8 miles with a typical time between 3-4 hours. This is the Fermyn Woods stretch of the Lyveden Way taking you on a linear walk from the woods to the historic hunting lodge of Lyveden New Bield.
The path is often muddy as it crosses the countryside. From the start it takes you briefly through the country park before heading east along the edge of the woods and Tresham Coppice. It crosses open countryside with some superb views where red kites can be spotted as it approaches Lady Wood Head. Finally you follow the wood east to Lyveden New Bield itself before returning the way you came back to the car or continuing further to join other parts of the Lyveden Way.
