Description:
The original memorial was a drinking fountain and a lamp stand. In 2004 a semi circular wall was officially opened to the rear. The wall is of highly polished stone with names engraved into the stone. The names are of the soldiers from the area.

To the memory of the 275 Volunteers from Maitland and 44 surrounding
Towns & the 13 Volunteers who paid the Supreme Sacrifice.
To all Australian, British, Allied & Afrikaner Boers who served and to
those gave their lives in the Anglo-Boer War 1899-1902
To the 56,000 Civilian Afrikaner Men, Women & Children and African
Natives who died in the Concentration Camps.
