The City of Adelaide installed these solar collectors in the shape of the indigenous mallee tree as part of the Adelaide Green City program. Sitting outside of the Adelaide Festival Centre, they serve as a demonstration of the possibility of solar energy. They have an audio component, which explains their background. Each tree produces 864 KWh per year; what is not used to power the audio feature and nigh ighting is returned to the electricity grid.
