There is a safe pullout on the west side of the road directly across from the sign.
"The Natural State" is only the latest state nickname for this state, and was adopted by the state legislature in 1995. The nickname is intended to highlight the "...unsurpassed scenery, clear lakes, free-flowing streams, magnificent rivers, meandering bayous, delta bottomlands, forested mountains, and abundant fish and wildlife."
