Kenton, Ohio was once well known for the Kenton Hardware Company. This factory was at one time the largest producer of cast-iron toys in the world. Following the Great Depression, Kenton Hardware was forced to stop producing toys, and was close to going bankrupt because people didn't have money for toys. In 1937, the vice president of the company came up with an idea to make cap gun models of Gene Autry's pistol. The gamble paid off, and within two years nearly two million of these cap guns were sold at $0.50/each.

This park, and mural was created to outline a significant part of Kenton's history. The park itself appears to be landscaped using plants more commonly found in the western U.S. There are two benches, and one picnic table which include wagon wheels as part of their design.
