The Acworth Silsby Library was built using a $10,000 from Colonel Ithiel Homer Silsby. When he bequeathed the money to the town in July, 1891 it was to build a library "of brick and granite". Hira Beckwith was the architect and builder for the library. The library has changed little since it was dedicated August 10, 1892. Many of the original books which were donated to the library remain in the library's collection.
