Wild Colorado
The Wildlife Experience welcomes you to Wild Colorado, an exhibit that covers four major habitats of our great state from the Great Plains to the peaks of the Rocky Mountains. By combining traditional exhibit elements and the latest in technology, Wild Colorado is an immersive exhibit experience complete with animatronics, realistic exhibit displays, interactive touch screens and life-like environments.
The exhibit is designed to give visitors the impression they are a part of the ecosystem.
Wild Colorado Visitors can:
• Wake an animatronic napping bear
• Discover bats in their abandoned mine home
• Interrupt an animatronic raccoon nibbling on his lunch
• Learn fun Colorado information from an animatronic Colorado Division of Wildlife ranger
• Hunt for countless Colorado reptiles, insects and amphibians hidden within the exhibit
Transitions from one ecosystem to the next are as natural as what would be found in nature; each turn through the biome provides a new discovery of native plants and animals set amongst an intricately crafted and accurate diorama.
Wild Colorado Wild Colorado contains several habitat features including a mountain waterfall, a wetland environment, an abandoned mine and the steep cliffs of Colorado's canyon lands. Additionally, interactive touch screens throughout the exhibit will test visitors' knowledge of wildlife and natural habitats to complement their experience through Wild Colorado.
Wild Colorado The educational components found in Wild Colorado give visitors the opportunity to learn about the forces of nature that have a great impact in Colorado, such as flash floods, the history of mining in the state, and most importantly, how balance in the natural world is critical to the survival of all living things.
Wild Colorado is the first installment of a larger exhibit expansion project at The Wildlife Experience called Globeology. In October the museum broke ground on a 30,000 square foot expansion that will open on Memorial Day Weekend 2009. Globeology will expand on Wild Colorado by exhibiting ecosystems found around the world, such as the Arctic Tundra, the Tropical Rainforest, Sonoran Desert and African Savanna, to name a few. The exhibit will educate visitors about the importance of keeping these ecosystems in balance and what we all can do to protect our natural resources.
