THE RETREAT CHARITY

Accommodation type: Almshouses

Support: Alarm/on call system

For: Couples without children, single people aged 60-85

Spaces available: 12

Primary purpose of service: The Retreat is a terrace of four almshouses off the High Street in Stony Stratford.
We exist to house elderly and/or infirm persons from the Stony Stratford/Calverton area, and provide accommodation at a low-level rent with no frills.
The properties are small one-bedroom single-storey almshouses, suitable in the main for disabled people, but the tenants are expected to be able enough to look after themselves without assistance from the Charity or its Trustees.
The Charity was set up in 1893, and is administered by a body of seven Trustees who are appointed from (but not by) the membership of the Anglican and Free Churches in Stony Stratford.
