The Albany Democrat was founded in 1859, primarily as a mouthpiece of a local politician. As with most Democrats at the time he had strong Confederate sympathies, and during the Civil War the paper was suppressed several times. The Albany Herald was founded in the 1880sm and did not have as much a colorful history. The papers merged in 1925 when the then owner of the Democrat purchased the Herald. Currently the paper is owned by the same group that publishes the Corvallis Gazette-Times. Each paper is published daily, with a joint edition on Sunday, the Mid Valley Times. The Democrat Herald also covers many of the smaller local communities, including Lebanon, Jefferson, Halsey, Tangent, Harrisburg, Brownsville, Shedd, and Sweet Home.

A photograph that depicts your presence at the building is necessary. This can be a picture of your GPSr in the foreground in only one of your many pictures, or if you're not too camera shy, put you or a team member in the picture. Maybe even buy a newspaper while they're still in business. They need all the help they can get. No picture, no new log. And no icon.
