Located between the Dalhousie Obelisk and the Victoria Theatre and Concert Hall is an Abstract Sculpture named Chuan. The inscription on the pedistal reads:

Chuan
"Chuan" - The Chinese word for creativity or uniqueness, is a calligraphic sculpture by the late Brother Joseph McNally, inspired by the brush stroke of Hong Zhu An. It is donated to the Singapore Symphony Orchestra by Siemens, on the occasion of its 100 years in Singapore celebrations. The sculpture is unveiled by His Excellency S R Nathan, President of the Republic of Singapore on 15 January 2008.

Within the pedestal of the sculpture lies a time capsule containing 100 items that are representative and symbolic of Singapore and Siemens
