For many years, the Colorado Springs Symphony has been playing the 1812 Overture while the fireworks explode over the lake. Fort Carson Army Base's 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment supplies 6 Howitzer cannons to punctuate the finale of the song. The orchestra then continues with many more songs while the fireworks continue for about 30 minutes. 50,000+ attend every year.
