This kayaking trip stretches from Giland to Bethel, Maine. The water is mostly flat, with a few shallow spots and areas with rough water.
This stretch of the river starts just downstream from the Wild River fork; the river has several sliver islands where the paddlers have to choose whether to go left or right. There are some ways that more navigatable than others. I would recommend a guide.
We saw a bald eagle, a couple of ospreys, and sometimes (not our trip) Moose.
The landing point was Davis Park. It is to the right just after going under the Rt 2 bridge.
Here's a pointer to our Everytrail GPS track plus photos:

Map created by EveryTrail:GPS Geotagging
Parking/put-in/launching information: To get to the Giland launch: start in Bethel, go West/Left on West Bethel Road (Rt 2), turn North/Right on Bridge St. The launch point 750 ft upstream (West) of the bridge.
Paddling conditions to be expected: The river current was about 3mph. Not fast, but significant. The river is mostly smooth, but there's some segments with shallow spots.
Difficulty of the trip: There are about 5 sections where the water gets shallow and you have to carefully navigate away from the rough water. I recommend a guide.
There's several forks in the river where you have to decide whether to take the water-left or water-right direction. A couple of times we guessed wrong and got ourselves into some shallow water. We never once had to get out and walk to deeper sections.
Length of trip: 10 miles
Portages: zero. Watch for the shallow spots. You should be able to get through most of them without portage. YMMV.
Permits required: We rented boats from the Sun Valley Sports Guide Service.
Type of trip: We launched in Giland and paddled about 10 miles to the Davis Park landing. We used the Sun Valley Sports Guide Service. They took us back to our hotel room.
