This ornate fixture on the front of the Cambridge Family YMCA, depicts several creatures and plants. The central part of the design has two griffins eating grapes.

A griffin is an eagle crossed with a lion. According to the Wikipedia source, since the lion is considered the king of beasts, and the eagle is the king of birds, then a griffin is an especially powerful creature.
