...To Bob Waldmire
One of the first to recognize the importance of U.S. 66 in America's heritage. His unique artwork is recognized around the world. It has captured, and will continue to capture, the spirit of the Mother Road for generations to come.
June 11, 2004 Tulsa, Oklahoma
This award is located at the Cozy Dog Restaurant. The Cozy Dog was started by Bob's father Ed, shortly after WWII. Ed is considered the inventor of the corn dog. Ed Waldmire's business enabled Bob to spend many years living on the Mother Road and creating his artwork, and selling it from his van while out on the road. Bob's family still owns & runs the Cozy Dog. Bob is a vegetarian.
Bob Waldmire is also the inspiration for the character Filmore in the 2006 Pixar movie "Cars".
