This Arboretum is close to Burrator Reservoir on the Western side of the Dartmoor National Park.
At the time of my visit a maintenance vehicle has made the path rather muddy after a very wet spell of weather.
South West Water established this 40 acre tree garden adjacent to Burrator Reservoir which is now managed by South West Lakes Trust. A network of around two miles of paths has been carefully planned to meander through the specimen trees and other features. Gradients do vary, but because of the variety of routes it is possible to avoid sloping paths if necessary.
A number of features have been added for interest, including pathside ponds, wide bridges over the river and a riverside boardwalk. The Arboretum is an excellent area for observing wildlife,
particularly dragonflies and birds.
