The Peace Shrine was dedicated on June 12, 1920. It symbolizes the peaceful relationship between Canada and the United States, and was donated by the Ancient Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine.
The memorial features a large angel of peace surrounded by three Sphinx statues at it's feet. The City of Toronto added a fountain, garden and park in the 1950s.
