Edlingham is a small village a few miles fron Morpeth in Northumberland, the church can be found half a mile from the village.
St.John the Baptist church at Edlingham is mostly 11th.and 12th.century with the massive tower added in the 14th.century.
The massive tower with its narrow slit windows would have been used for refuge by the villagers when there were raids by the Scots,to which there was a constant threat.
The earliest part of the church is the nave which is mid 11th.century,and partly rebuilt in the 12th century.
The church is now a Grade 1 listed building making it a building of high historical importance.
