Georgetown, Kentucky is home to Toyota Motor Manufacturing of Kentucky and through this partnership we have formed a special friendship with our sister city of Tahara, Japan. There is a kite festival every year in which guests from Tahara come to Georgetown to share their culture with us. Many parts of the Japanese Garden are gifts from Tahara directly or through contributions from them.
The Tahara Snow Lantern sits in front of a Maple Grove, featuring many maple trees from Japan and the U.S. This was also a gift from Tahara.
