This statue is in front of Happy Days Camp in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. It was dedicated in 2000 to honor the CCC workers from 1933 - 1942.

The Civilian Conservation Corps was a work relief program for young men from unemployed families, established on March 21, 1933, by U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
The CCC was created by FDR to combat unemployment during the Great Depression. The CCC operated in all fifty states. Soon unemployment fell and the U.S. entered World War II. The need for the CCC was not a great need any longer and after 1942 congress quit funding the group.
