This town clock in the Old Courthouse Building was originally constructed in the eighteenth century and first hung in the steeple of the old Episcopal church and then for many years in the tower of the market-house. When the market-house was torn down about 1826, the clock was stored until the present courthouse was completed in 1845.
The building is a national historic site.
