Sculptured by the late New Zealand-born sculptor Colin Webster-Watson, this beautiful bronze shark statue was dedicated on Saturday 23 August 08 at the Te Kopahou Reserve, Owhiro Bay.
Colin Webster-Watson (1926–2007) created the work when he was living in Rome in the 1970s. For many years it was on public display in his adopted home of Palm Springs, California, before he brought the work home to New Zealand last year. He then gifted Frenzy to Wellington city through the Council's Public Art Panel.
Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast says, "It is a magnificent piece of work. Frenzy is a perfect fit with the conservation values and spirit of the South Coast, and is a fantastic acknowledgement of the region's wildlife."
