The Fort Garry Gate symbolized the Gateway to the Red River Country, the Prairies and the Middle West. Also included in the series were Entrance to Halifax Harbour, Entrance to Vancouver Harbour and Mackenzie River in the Northwest Territories.
This gate and a short section of wall are all that remain of historic Upper Fort Garry.
There are now four waymarks at this gate. The other categories are Historic Forts, Preserved Architectural Remnants and Ruins and Freestanding Arches.
