For many years this Muffler Man was painted up as "Uncle Sam" and stood in front of Mutual Ford in Springfield, MA. It was sold and moved in 1999 to its current spot. The hotels trademark is "southern hospitality", so the Muffler Man was painted to look like a southern gentleman.
