This bell is housed in the strikingly modern bell tower at the National Parks Department Museum next to Independence Square in Philadelphia. On July 6 1976, Queen Elizabeth I presented the bell to the people of the United States with a speech recognizing their right to sovereignty. The speech is transcribed on a plaque at the base of the tower.
