"The gazebo is located in Willson Park to the west of the capitol. Willson Park was a "city park from 1853 until 1965 when it officially became part of the Capitol grounds. It is the setting for the Waite Fountain, Parade of Animals sculpture, a Liberty Bell replica." Source

A nearby plaque indicates the gazebo was constructed by the inmates and staff or the Oregon Correction Institute in 1982 and was presented to the citizen's of the State of Oregon by the Willamette Christmas Association.
