Place Fell,Rises quite steeply from the shores of Ullswater,one of the Largest Lakes in the Lake District of England.
Place Fell is a popular climb from Patterdale village and also from Howtown village,the Fells is populated with some charming Fell Ponies that live on the mountain all year and seem oblivious to the harsh winter conditions.
The summit of Place Fell holds extensive views in clear conditions,in all directions,to the North are the Pennines,Penrith and N.E.Cross Fell,To The East can be seen High Street with it's famous Roman Road 2000 feet high along it's ridge,to the South is Red Screes and SW is Helvellyn,West is the Skiddaw group,and to the north West can be seen Blencathra.
