Smith Rock State Park is a favorite of hikers and skilled rock climbers - and yes, some do climb the Monkey Face itself. The picture was taken from the trail down by the river to the SW of the Monkey Face. Perhaps near N44°22.0' W121°8.8' - I did not actually record the location where I took the picture. Just follow the trail around the south end of the rock formation, instead of going over Misery Ridge, and you will come upon my viewpoint in your journey.
