Fort Williams CCC - Cape Elizabeth Twn, ME - Civilian Conservation Corps on Waymarking.com

From 1933 to 1942, the 5th Infantry Regiment provided two weeks conditioning at Fort Williams for CCC enrollees. Two camps were stationed at the fort. One was the administrative headquarters, the only camp in the state to serve throughout the lifetime of the CCC progam. The second camp, along with the WPA (Work Projects Administration), worked on projects at various Portland Harbor forts, including tennis courts, bleachers, swimming pool, and lily pad pond at Fort Williams.

Visit Instructions:
Logs must include picture of person with GPS'r in hand with the waymark and log of experience and any additional things learned about the waymark.
