Born in London, Harry Marinsky came to the United States at an early age. He later studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and Pratt Institute, first working in fine art and then commercial design. Eventually specializing in figurative sculpture, Marinsky designed his work to entertain the audience, especially children. Whimsical and streamlined, his sculpture portrayed the everyday attitudes and situations of the common man. Although sculpting few details, Marinsky was able to imbue his figures with movement and expression. In 1972, he moved from Connecticut to Capriglia, near Pietrasanta, Italy, where he found daily inspiration in the simple lifestyle and abundant genre subjects.
