There are about 40 graves located in this cemetery in West Greenwich. The cemetery has some overgrowth, but appears to receive regular visits for limited maintenance. The plot does not appear in any formal cemetery database. We gave it the name Sweet Lot since those markers which can be read all indicate ties to the Sweet family from the area. The earliest markers date from the mid 1760's. Most markers are quite faint. By tracing with a finger, we were able to find the stone of William Sweet, Jr., a Revolutionary War veteran. At one time, the plot was surrounded with a fence.
The cemetery is located on an old dirt road named the New London Turnpike. The road and the land of the cemetery are now part of a Wildlife Management Area that is open to hunting between the first Saturday of October and the last day in February. If you are visiting during that time, please wear blaze orange. The closest parking for this cemetery is N 41 37.070 W 071 35.777 . The round-trip walk to the cemetery is about 2 miles.
