All Saints church here at Orton became a stone built structure in the early 13th.century when it replaced a much earlier primitive structure.
The church's perpendicular tower was added in 1504,at the same time the North aisle was built and extended into what is now a utility room, there have been more enlargements and restorations over the centuries.
The pulpit which stands at the North side of the chancel steps is of 1742.
On the wall of the South aisle hangs a large wooden panel bearing the Royal Coat of Arms of William 111,dated 1695.
The font is dated 1622 and bears some interesting carving, the significance of which is not apparent today.
The Tower contains a fine ring of eight bells built up from the original 4 by John Wooley of Nottingham in 1530.
In the North aisle are The Three Bells in the Frame, and are of considerable archaeological interest, and have been preserved for that reason, the smallest bell inscribed in plain capitals IESVS BE OVR SPEED,andn is dated 1637.
The big bell has the inscription in Roman capitals SOLI DEI GLORIA is dated 1637.
The middle bell however is the most interesting it was cast by John Wooley in1530 as part of the original ring of 4,it is inscribed in Gothic capitals OMNIU SANCTORU,and is ornamented with a shield shaped badge comprised of a Greek cross centered on a saltire and bears the initials LB,enclosing what appears to be smaller sized initials. No date is inscribed on this bell.,these bells hang by there own headstocks as they would have done in the tower.
